This sweet, spicy, and savory concoction is a delightful way to enjoy the flavors of bacon and jalapenos in a spreadable form. Perfect for topping burgers, cream cheese, or even toast, this jam will quickly become a favorite in your culinary repertoire.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 slices of bacon, chopped
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 23 jalapenos, seeds removed and finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare Ingredients

Begin by gathering all the ingredients necessary for your jalapeno bacon jam. This includes diced bacon, jalapenos, onion, garlic, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, and black pepper.

Step 2: Cook the Bacon

In a skillet over medium heat, cook the diced bacon until it is crispy. Once cooked, use a slotted spoon to transfer the bacon to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess grease.

Step 3: Sauté the Vegetables

In the same skillet with the remaining bacon grease, add the diced onions and jalapenos. Sauté for about 5 minutes until the onions are translucent. Next, add minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.

Step 4: Combine Ingredients

Return the cooked bacon to the skillet with the sautéed vegetables. Add brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, and black pepper, stirring to combine all the ingredients well.

Step 5: Simmer

Decrease the heat and let the mixture simmer for about 20-30 minutes. Stir occasionally, allowing the flavors to meld and the mixture to thicken.

Step 6: Blend the Jam

Once the mixture has thickened, transfer it to a blender or use an immersion blender to blend until you reach your desired consistency. You can blend it completely smooth or leave some chunks for texture.

Step 7: Store and Serve

Transfer the jalapeno bacon jam to a jar or airtight container. Allow it to cool before sealing. It can be served right away or stored in the refrigerator for several weeks.

Notes

Note 1:

Ensure to adjust the jalapeno quantity based on your spice preference. For milder jam, consider removing the seeds.

Note 2:

This jam pairs well with a variety of dishes, including burgers, cheese platters, and even as a topping for crackers.

Note 3:

For a sweeter jam, you can increase the amount of brown sugar while adjusting vinegar to maintain balance.
