If you love a classic White Russian but want something a little lighter, fresher, and perfect for summer sipping, the Orange Creamsicle White Russian will instantly become your new favorite cocktail.
This creamy cocktail blends the traditional coffee and vodka notes you know and love with a splash of bright, juicy orange, creating a nostalgic flavor reminiscent of those sweet creamsicle pops you loved as a kid — but with a grown-up twist.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 oz orange liqueur (such as Cointreau, Triple Sec, or Grand Marnier)
  • 1 oz fresh orange juice (preferably freshly squeezed)
  • ½ oz simple syrup
  • 1 oz vodka
  • 1 oz coffee liqueur (like Kahlúa)
  • 1 oz heavy cream or milk (half-and-half also works)
  • Ice cubes
  • Orange wheel or zest (for garnish)

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare Your Glass

Choose a rocks glass (also called an old-fashioned glass). Fill it halfway with fresh ice cubes to chill while you prepare the cocktail.

Step 2: Mix the Citrus Base

In a cocktail shaker, combine the orange liqueur, orange juice, and simple syrup. Shake vigorously for about 10 seconds to blend the citrus elements together.

Step 3: Add the Spirits

Pour in the vodka and coffee liqueur into the shaker. Add a few more ice cubes to chill the mixture fully. Shake again for another 10–15 seconds until the mixture is frosty cold.

Step 4: Layer or Shake with Cream

You have two options here:

  • Classic Layered Look: Strain the mixed ingredients into the prepared rocks glass over ice. Gently float the cream on top by pouring it slowly over the back of a spoon for a stunning layered effect.
  • Creamy Blend: Add the cream directly into the shaker before the final shake for a fully blended, velvety texture.

Step 5: Garnish and Serve

Top your cocktail with a fresh orange wheel, a twist of zest, or even a sprinkle of orange sugar rim if you want a little extra sparkle. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

  • Always use fresh orange juice if possible — bottled orange juice tends to have preservatives that can slightly alter the flavor.
  • Shaking the cream into the drink creates a silkier and more homogenous texture, but floating it keeps a striking, layered look.
  • Use quality vodka and coffee liqueur for the best taste.
A premium orange liqueur (like Grand Marnier) can dramatically elevate the drink.
