Description

Strawberry lemon drop is a summery spin on a lemon drop martini! It has strawberries and lemons for the perfect balance of sweet and tart.

Ingredients

Scale

8 Fresh Strawberries

1.5 oz Lemon Juice

1.5 oz Vodka

1.5 oz Simple Syrup

1 oz Triple Sec

Instructions

Make the sugared rim by rubbing a lemon slice along the top of a cocktail glass. Pour about 1-2 tbsps of sugar onto a plate and dip the rim of the glass into the sugar.
  • Add strawberries to a cocktail shaker with lemon juice and muddle together for 15-20 seconds, until strawberries are crushed and juicy. Strain juices into a cup and discard the pulp. Pour juices back into the cocktail shaker. Then add vodka, simple syrup, triple sec, and ice. Place the lid on the shaker and shake for 10 seconds, until cold.Strain into martini glasses and enjoy!

Notes

Mocktail version! Omit the vodka and triple sec and use lemon-lime soda instead!

Make it slushy! Use frozen strawberries instead of fresh strawberries to make a slushy cocktail! Add everything to a blender with ice and blend until smooth.

Use a premade mix instead! If you want to make a big batch of this strawberry lemon drop recipe, you can use premade strawberry lemonade mix and add as much vodka and triple sec as you’d like. (Omit the simple syrup for this version)

What You’ll Need

Fresh Strawberries
The heart of this drink! Use ripe, juicy strawberries for the boldest natural sweetness and deep berry flavor. They bring color, freshness, and that signature fruity twist to your lemon drop. If strawberries aren’t in season, frozen ones will work just fine—just thaw them slightly before muddling for best results. (Check out the Variations section for tips on how to switch things up with frozen fruit!)

Fresh Lemon Juice
Trust us—freshly squeezed is everything. Skip the bottled lemon juice and squeeze your own for that bright, tangy citrus kick. It balances the sweetness of the strawberries and adds that classic lemon drop zing that makes this cocktail so refreshing.

Vodka
This is where you can personalize your drink a bit! Go with classic vodka for a clean finish, or try lemon vodka if you want to amp up the citrus flavor. Feeling adventurous? Use strawberry vodka for an extra berry boost. Just make sure you’re choosing a good-quality brand—Tito’s Handmade Vodka and Absolut are great picks for smoothness and mixability.

Simple Syrup
A splash of simple syrup ties everything together with the perfect touch of sweetness. You can grab a bottle from your grocery or liquor store, but it’s also incredibly easy to make at home—just simmer equal parts sugar and water until dissolved, and cool. This ingredient softens the tart edges of the lemon and enhances the strawberry flavor without overpowering the drink.

Triple Sec
Triple sec is a citrusy orange liqueur that adds a beautiful depth and brightness to this cocktail. The name comes from the French “triple distillation,” highlighting its refined flavor. With its sweet orange aroma and zesty taste, it lifts the whole cocktail into sunny, summery bliss. You can also substitute Cointreau or another orange liqueur if you prefer.

How to make a Strawberry Lemon Drop

Step 1: Sugar That Rim Like a Pro
Start by creating that sweet, sparkling sugar rim—it’s simple but adds a beautiful finish. Grab a fresh lemon slice and rub it around the rim of your cocktail glass. This adds moisture and citrus aroma. Then, pour 1–2 tablespoons of granulated sugar onto a small plate. Dip the moistened rim into the sugar and gently twist until fully coated. Set the glass aside while you mix the magic. (See Image 1)

Step 2: Muddle the Flavor In
Next, add your fresh strawberries and lemon juice into a cocktail shaker. Use a muddler (or the back of a spoon) to press and mash the strawberries for about 15–20 seconds. The goal is to crush the berries enough to release all their sweet, juicy flavor while blending beautifully with the tart lemon. This step is where your cocktail starts to come alive. (See Image 2)

Step 3: Strain the Good Stuff
Once your strawberries and lemon juice are fully muddled, it’s time to separate the flavor from the pulp. Pour the mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a cup or small bowl, using the back of a spoon to press out every last drop of juice. Discard the leftover pulp—it’s done its job!

Step 4: Shake It Up
Pour the freshly strained juice back into your cocktail shaker. Now add the vodka, simple syrup, triple sec, and a generous handful of ice. Secure the lid tightly, then give it a good shake for about 10 seconds. You want the shaker to feel icy cold—that’s how you know it’s ready! ❄️🍸

Step 5: Pour & Garnish
Strain the chilled cocktail into your prepared martini glasses with sugared rims. For the finishing touch, garnish with a sliced strawberry and a fresh lemon wedge on the rim. It’s simple, elegant, and totally Instagram-worthy. Cheers!

Variations: Switch It Up Your Way

Make It a Mocktail
Want all the fruity fun without the booze? Skip the vodka and triple sec, and replace them with lemon-lime soda (like Sprite or 7UP). It’s fizzy, refreshing, and perfect for kids, non-drinkers, or afternoon sipping without the buzz!

Try a Blueberry Twist
If you love this cocktail, you’ve got to try its blueberry cousin! Swap the strawberries for fresh blueberries and follow the same steps—or check out my Blueberry Lemon Drop Martini recipe for the full details. It’s just as tart, vibrant, and delicious with a slightly deeper berry flavor.

Make It a Slushy
Perfect for hot summer days! Use frozen strawberries instead of fresh ones and toss everything into a blender with extra ice. Blend until smooth for a frosty, slushy-style cocktail that’s like an adult frozen lemonade. You’ll want a straw and a spoon for this one!

Big Batch Hack with Premade Mix
Entertaining a crowd? Save time by using premade strawberry lemonade. Just pour it into a pitcher and stir in your vodka and triple sec to taste. Skip the simple syrup since the mix is already sweet. It’s easy, fast, and still totally tasty—perfect for parties and barbecues!

Conclusion

Strawberry Lemon Drop Lemonade is more than just a cocktail—it’s a little glass of happiness, bursting with fresh fruit flavor and bright citrusy charm. Whether you’re sipping it poolside, serving it at brunch, or blending up slushy versions for a summer party, this drink is guaranteed to impress. It’s simple to make, easy to customize, and absolutely unforgettable.

So grab your shaker, slice up some lemons, and let the strawberries shine. Your next favorite cocktail is just a shake away. Cheers to sweet moments and even sweeter sips!
